It was an improvement over the 1st book in my opinion. However, I still don't love it as much as the ghost bird books. I just don't like the characters as much-They just aren't as engaging as the boys in the other book. And as much as I want to like Kayli because she is tough and strong, I still think I like Sang better. However, the 1st chapter of the next book was amazing and now I can't wait!

Update: Still just not as good as GB. This was better than book 1, I still think.

I love all of the Academy books so far and this was no exception. I love that we got to see Mr Blackbourne in this book today, I'm getting serious withdrawals from them Academy guys! I really love the new academy group that we've been introduced to and I can't wait to read more of what is happening with Wil and the fact that it's linked to the other series, I'm sure we will find out little snippets in there.

I cannot wait for House of Korba to release in October!

This series is interesting, but I think I like the Ghost Bird series better. I just get the sense of characters better in the other series.

At first I didn't really like the fact that Kayli had to lie to the guys so much. I really was expecting everything to blow up in her face but the way the author executed that particular plot line was very well done because it did't bombard me as I was reading it. The overall plot for this book particularly, about the case in Florida, was thrilling and one of the many reasons I love the author's writing style: she knows how to write a good suspenseful action scene.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Wil is involved with the other series's story line, as well as what is going to happen to Kayli. All of these Academy books should definitely be read in the order they're published, in order to really appreciate it how the story lines intersect.
