I love it when you read a great book and the author has already written a bunch more! I can't wait to read more books by Tananarive Due. I really enjoyed all of these short stories, and most were quite memorable. Due weaves together horror themes (ghosts, paranormal, zombies) with sci fi themes (pandemics, genetic research) and her stories bring in important elements of race, gender and the social constructions in our lives. Her narrators all feel very different from each other, from grumpy old man, to predatory teacher, to adolescent, I loved how she fully transports the reader into that voice and perspective. Her writing is great. If you love genre fiction you sometimes learn to compromise on certain elements (writing, characterization), but this is the whole package. So worth it, read this!

A strong collection of short stories, and a novella, from one of the very best modern authors around.

I don't usually like short stories because the story ends too soon for my level of engagement in it. Also, the proofreading of the first printing of this book was glaringly inadequate. I sincerely hope that the talent of the author isn't buried under all the mistakes left uncorrected.
Aside from those issues, I definitely enjoyed reading this book.

This anthology made me cry so often. Tananarive Due knows how to cut to the quick. What a sad, compelling collection of stories. Highly recommend.

Very interesting set of stories. Read this during the end of the covid pandemic (at least I think it's thee end) and it all felt shockingly familiar. Great characters and interesting plots. I enjoyed the longer stories more, especially Ghost Summer, which nails Florida.

Gorgeously written and developed ghost stories. I'd happily give this to anyone who likes good stories of any kind.

This collection scared me, made me cry, and made me think. Every story evinced strong feelings, often more than one. I look forward to reading more by Due.
