I got this novella via KU and wish I could get the 2 hours I spent reading this back. I was hoping to get more mystery and pining, but got none of it. Instead I got rushed world building and nonsensical family dynamics. The pacing is entirely too fast for the topic and themes the author wished to convey. The ending is jarring, and feels rushed. If you were hoping for a cute bodyguard romance with a murder mystery I suggest you read something else.
