A seal and a nerd girl, what could be better...

Wounded warriors are sometimes hard to read, but Badger has come through most of his recovery and adjustment to being a civilian. He just has one more mission, to find out why their truck got blown up. Kat is a strong independent woman, a doctor, an engineer, pretty much a nerd, and also an amputee so she knows a lot about what these ex soldiers are going through. She is close to Badger, but has never pushed for more. When she is threatened Badger takes responsibility for her protection. And close quarters make them realize just how much they like each other. Don't look for much in the way of sexy times, but the romantic build up is satisfying in itself.

I just love how this is a new series but still interlinks to the other characters from SEALS of Honor and HEROS for Hire. Badger and his team where all injured during their last tour however only 7 of the 8 got out with their lives. While recuperating Badger is stuck on finding out why things went horribly wrong unfortunately this is hindering his recovery much to Dr Greenwalds chagrin but she has her own issues going on. Then both their worlds come together and now Badger and his team mates Erick, Cade and Talon are looking out for her as well as following their own lead. There are plenty of emotions, some laughs along with twists you don't see coming and of course a little bit of love. I can not wait for book 2!

This was a wonderful start to a new series. The plot flowed well, and there was only a little steam. The narration was excellent! Definitely one of my favorite listening experiences!

I purchased this book through Chirp.com.

Badger and his team are medically retired after all being injured when their vehicle hit a mine. They're on a mission though for answers, was it deliberate?
Kat their prosthetics doctor has problems of her own, she's in danger and the team go into action.
Chemistry is sparking, will there be a romantic connection in this action packed drama?
I really enjoyed this book, an insight into physically and mentally damaged men. I think their mateship is the glue to survival.
Bravo Ms Mayer, you've done it again. I look forward to more in this series for the tales of the other guys and answers to their questions.

Betrayal

Badger finds out that the IED that destroyed his men was an act of betrayal. Dale Mayer has started us on another mystery of betrayal that leads to romance.

A decent enough quick read, but very much an introduction to a series rather than a standalone read within it's own rights. The leads didn't seem to have any chemistry. The 'plot' felt like a cut & paste job... however, I do like the idea of this band of brothers trying to get to the truth.

However... I do object to the portayal of London. Grey & miserable? Not really, not anymore, not for a long time. Think the climate has changed. It is no more so than any other city with the same geographical bounderies. Also... why on earth would you visit London for the second time and want to go to Madame Tussaud's? Madness... there are a ton of free things to do... like ALL of the museums & art galleries to start with... Sorry, but I do hate a stereotype.
