Finally finished this marathon read. This took me a long time but I did really enjoy it in spite of that. It didn't feel like a typical King book but it was an interesting change. SO much character development, like even more than normal. I loved the different setting and how much he painted the picture (no pun intended) of Duma Key. I normally don't love a slow burn but I found myself almost compulsively coming back to this. I was so intrigued by how everything seemed a little too "normal" for a King book, and wanted to see what happened...and once it ramped up it really went from 0 to 100. Some very creepy goings-on especially at the end!!
I did feel like it dragged on a bit at certain points, but overall I really enjoyed it. I think this could make an absolutely stunning movie, but I also sort of like that there isn't one (yet). The scenes were described so beautifully that I could clearly see everything in my head, especially the paintings.

3.5-4ish stars.

I listened to this on audio, and really really loved it. The reader is amazing! I loved it so much that I can't wait to pick up the book and read it with my own eyes. Definite reread potential. Highly recommended audio. Duma Key rocks my socks.
