Mixed opinions. I personally found it to be a bit of a slow read. And honestly, I do not really relate to the characters belonging to the landed gentry. So the characters did not pique my interest much. The ending was a little vague in terms of others. Like, I would want to know what happened to the rest, and how Roshi reacted to her brother's death, all that. And whether others, other than Vimal, ever try to contact her.
May I add, Salim is a douche. Hate him.

I absolutely loved the part where Roshi has her epiphany and decides to join the volunteers in helping the refugees. And of course I really enjoyed the way Hyder dealt with the dying gentry and how they wilfully closed themselves off to growing national and political consciousness. Very real imo.

If you read urdu or hindi, I'd suggest getting hold of the actual work instead of the English translation.
