I was finally able to finish the Rose Harbor series with the middle book.
Since the series centers around Jo Marie and Mark, and I already knew what happened between them, it was nice just to focus on the Inn's guests and their stories, which I enjoyed.

Two years ago, Jo Marie lost her husband to the war in Afghanistan. Now she owns and runs the Rose Harbor Inn. Her closest friend is Mark the handy man but she knows next to nothing about him. As they get closer, she becomes a little obsessed with finding out anything about him since he won't answer any of her questions.
The base of this story line about Jo Marie and Mark is most curious and is a continuing mystery as these are both residents of Cedar Cove. I am sure we will see much more of them real soon.
Rose Harbor Inn guest, Ellie Reynolds is in Cedar Cove to meet Tom Lynch. These two met online and are meeting for the first time. The plot twist that occurs with this couple is shocking and was not expected. Fantastic story line!
Roy and Maggie Porter are also guests of the Inn. If you think you've got their story figured out, think again. The twists and turns in their marriage will make you dizzy. Their struggle is real and heartbreaking! Another great story line in this fantastic book.
This is another fabulous Rose Harbor novel. I love the individual stories of the guests at the Inn. I can't wait to find out what's going to happen between the inn keeper and the handy man.

Love Letters is the third book in the Rose Harbor series, and I loved it just as much as the first two (link to my review)! The book returns to Rose Harbor in at the peak of summer, a busy season for the Inn. Jo Marie Rose and handyman Mark Taylor have been spending a lot of time working on projects for the Inn, and Jo Marie considers him a close friend. A new group of guests visit the Inn for the weekend. The first is Ellie Reynolds, who is taking a leap of faith to meet someone named Tom, a man she's been corresponding with via phone and online for months but hasn't met in person yet. Ellie's made the trip despite not having her mother's approval and is anxious to prove she's right about Tom. Maggie and Roy Porter are visiting the Inn for their first vacation alone since their children were born, and are hoping to repair their broken marriage. Maggie discovers a secret that could potentially tear them apart. For each of the characters in this novel, including Jo Marie, love letters hold a special purpose in changing their futures and keeping their hearts open to love.
This was another great book in the Rose Harbor Inn series! I think it was my favorite of the three because I felt it was the least predictable. Though I had a pretty good idea of how things would tie together and wrap up, there were a few twists and turns I didn't totally expect. This novel sucked me in from the beginning and I could barely put the book down. I really enjoyed how Macomber tied the theme of love letters together throughout all of the character's stories--I think it is the reason I liked this book the best of the three so far.
This is a nice relaxing read that I would definitely recommend to any fan of Macomber or this genre. It's light, heartwarming, and well written. The characters are very real and easy to relate to, and you'll find yourself rooting for them to succeed right from the very first chapter. Macomber also left the ending wide open for another book--I am definitely looking forward to reading more in this series!

This is the first ever Debbie Macomber book that I bought. When I found out that this is part of a series, I searched for the first two books The Inn at Rose Harbor and Rose Harbor in Bloom. Thankfully I managed to get a copy on a secondhand bookstore so I have read the Rose Harbor series.
I can relate to the series because what Jo Marie Rose went through with the death of her husband is similar to what we have experienced as a family in 2008. My brother died in a sea tragedy at the age of 31 in 2008 and left behind his wife and two children. Like Jo Marie, it took several months before we got news on my brother and like her, we all held on to the hope that my brother was alive somewhere. It took 8 months before we got news on my brother and his remains were identified via DNA. What a coincidence that I managed to pick and read this series out of all Debbie Macomber's books and how Jo Marie's experience is the same as what our family went through. For that I applaud Debbie Macomber for creating this series about healing from a painful tragedy. I've also come to admire Jo Marie on how she dealt with losing her husband she opened this B&B and how the Rose Harbor Inn became a place of healing for her.
When I read this book, Love Letters, I have to admit this is a bit of a letdown compared to the first two books. Since I have read Rose Harbor in Bloom before this, I want to be updated on what happened to Jo Marie's previous guests Mary Smith (on whether she was cured of her breast cancer) and Oliver and Annie. I appreciated Rose Harbor in Bloom because the book provided an update on what happened on Jo Marie's guests. Also, I did not like the cliffhanger ending between Jo Marie and Mark. I wanna know more about Mark's background and thought that the next book and short story, Falling for Her, should have been published within Love Letters so I, as a reader, would not be hanging.
Despite that, I enjoyed reading the Rose Harbor series and I want to know what happens next between Jo Marie and Mark. :)

This was a nice read for a Sunday. It wasn't a fun read, because it dealt with serious issues in the characters' lives but it was a nice read.
I have enjoyed some of Debbie Macomber's books in the past, but I found this one disappointing even though the audio narrator is one of my favorite (Lorelei King). The dialogue was often stilted and the plot was too contrived. The only character that resonated with me was Mark. (My favorite dialogue in the whole story was when Mark played "counselor" by agreeing with Roy. It was funny.) I wouldn't recommend this book and will not seek out the next in the Rose Harbor Series.
So far, this is my least favorite of the three Rose Harbor books. I didn't love the side stories as much as I usually do (they were a little lacking in the romance department) and the main story-line didn't advance the Jo Anne/Mark story more than a few feet beyond where they were at the end of the last book. I hope the next installment moves the story forward.
I have always been a fan of Debbie Macomber, especially when I’m in the mood for a simple predictable chick-lit. Although sometimes they tend to blend into one another with their predictable plot lines and likeable characters. This one seemed to stand out a bit more for me. I was truly invested in learning more about the Inn keeper, and her weekend guests. They each have secrets in their dark pasts, but they have the best intentions. Although the ending is still predictable, it had me looking foreword to the next book in the series. Can’t wait to get my hands on the next one.
I received this book as part of the Goodreads first reads program. Rating: 3.5 stars
I have read many Debbie Macomber books and I have to say that this much is much better than her previous new release, Blossom Street Brides. I found myself happy to be back at the Rose Harbor Inn checking in with Jo Marie and the guests at her inn. I feel like Debbie Macomber has written a good novel that is perfect for a weekend trip. I do have to say that I did find the relationship between Tom and Ellie a little different and I'm not completely sold on that storyline. Spoiler alert....unlike many of her previous novels Debbie Macomber has tied up the ending with nice bow and it feels like everyone lives "happily ever after" but that is not the case in this novel. I do have to say that I kind of like the ending although it leaves the potential for a possible heartbreak, which yeah isn't that great, but we'll have to tune into the next Rose Harbor book to see if that is the case. Honestly I highly doubt a heartbreak will be but the suspense will keep me intrigued until the next volume in this series.
