I actually had mixed reactions to this one. I liked the idea that Amun couldn't really speak out loud & the telepathic communication they had going on. I never warmed up to Haidlee, though. Mostly I just wanted her to shut up. There were a few times that I wanted Amun to do the same, specifically when he got all macho he-man on her. And the final solution? Yeah, bites. Seemed like the ending wasn't planned out at all & the writer just had to cobble together a solution because the end was suddenly there. I wanted to like Amun & I did for parts of it. He just blew it with his chauvinistic attitudes.

Since it is by Gena Showalter there is no way it could be bad but compared to the other books in the series this one wasn't as good. I found myself waiting for Striders parts in the book rather than Amuns. I obviously wanted things to work out for him and hoped that him and Haidee could get it together but (sorry to Amun fans) I just don't find his character that interesting. I felt like the whole 'Secrets' aspected of him wasn't as huge as the other demons are to the other Lords like Gideon and Aeron. Stiders parts in the book were awesome. I can't wait to see what goes on with him and Kaia.
Despite the fact that this wasn't my favourite book in the series (Aeron gets that honour and as soon as Kane gets his book published I can bet you that his will be favourite of mine) it was still well written in typical Showalter fashion. She has me absolutely addicted to her books and I love her for it. Keep rockin' Gena.

1 star because of rape as a joke and kaia's statement that Strider deserved it. Amun's reaction is understandable given his duress but Strider's entitled to his thoughts????

Another great book in the series though I was woried for Haidee when she took his demons and the circus realm will end up giving me nightmares at some point I'm sure. Over all I liked it and can't wait to read about Strider and Kaia.
