I loved [much of] this book but you'd need to read it with a few grains of salt.

I found I needed to pick and choose which premises were believable. For example, do I buy that our thoughts and beliefs generally manifest into the realities of our lives? Yes. Do I buy that we have complete control, through our thoughts, of everything that happens to us? ....NO. Dooley ties himself in illogical knots trying to explain how his "thoughts become things" point has no exceptions or boundaries whatsoever- even going so far as to suggest that people living in abject poverty have purposefully chosen that life for themselves knowing that in the future they could choose a life in the lap of luxury. That's a dangerous suggestion, because that means we should hold ourselves personally responsible for any abjectly evil thing that happens to us. Let's just take a step back here, Mike...

That being said, 90% of the book is perfectly lovely! I particularly liked the practical ideas for identifying limiting beliefs. Well worth the time.

Just found this in a stack of books. Cannot remember how I came about it--gift, recommendation, or random purchase. Not familiar with author at all. Wish I could remember--it very well may have been a gift from my dad who has since passed away but was always so encouraging. Just found a Louise Hay affirmation card in it, so I started it at some point. It's been a very long several years.

*I received a copy of this book from the publisher for review.

This book is written wonderfully, I felt that it was such an easy read that flowed like a conversation. If I had to compare it to something I would say it reads like a TED talk, which is understandable considering Dooley has taught his methods.

While I didn't necessarily agree with the whole of Dooley's perspectives, the book is full of good advice and a perspective that I think would be valuable to anyone looking to improve themselves or their life. There's a lot of discussion regarding intention, how positivity and negativity can affect you, etc. Pretty much anything could take something from this book and find it useful.

All in all this was a very enjoyable read that I'm glad I was able to take the time to read. It's got a lot of great points and even if you don't agree with everything there are a number of things that could be helpful.
