I preordered this book 7 years ago and it has sat unread on my shelves since then. The sense of achievement I have of finally reading it is excellent.
Unfortunately though, this book was a unnecessarily stressful read. 80% of the book I spent so anxious about what was happening, to the point it wasn't too enjoyable. I also didn't like the ending. Carly trauma dumps everything onto a 12 year old before jumping off a tree house and vanishing. Horrific parenting. Literally can't think of any way she could have made it worse and there was no accountability at all!
The writing was good and I liked the characters for the most part. But because of the ending and how stressful it was, I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

I don't usually like science fiction or fantasy but I enjoyed this. It's a novel about time travel, a pregnant young wife, her sister and her husband, and about four or five different time periods in recent American History.
The writing was kind of basic in parts and I found myself thinking of the book as a soap opera. However, the story line was interesting and kept me reading until the end.

I absolutely LOVED this book! The story was so different and just drew me right in. It was quite different than the author's other books, but nonetheless a wonderful story!
This was such an amazing book. If you love time travel books, or books that put you on the edge of your seat, or even books that rip your heart out of your chest . . . this one is definitely for you.
Carly is a young widow living in 1970. Her husband has been killed in Vietnam, and she is expecting a baby. When she finds out that the baby will die at birth from complications related to a heart defect, she is devastated.
Her brother in law approaches her with a plan that is crazy, but she just can't help but feel that it might work to save her unborn child.
This is a time travel story, and it is page turning good. After I finished it, I still haven't stopped thinking about it, and it's been over a week ago. There hasn't been a day pass that it hasn't crossed my mind in some way. That is a sign of great piece of work. 5 Stars. You should try it!
Also, I started reading it, and then my audiobook hold at the library became available, and I'm so glad it did. I was able to finish the book even though I couldn't breathe or see through my tears!

This book had me crying so much at the end! I loved the story, although it was heartbreaking as a mother to even imagine this happening.

Caroline Sears’ unborn baby has a heart defect. It is 1970 and she’s told by doctors nothing can be done. Her brother in law Hunter has a solution but it would mean Caroline needs to jump into the unknown.. literally! ✨ This book is wonderful. It’s such a lovely story and I couldn’t put it down. I really love Diane Chamberlain’s books 💛
