Coming at you this fine Sunday with another emotional support historical reread. I love this series so damn much. I’m not even sure how many times I’ve reread it at this point (I didn’t start meticulously tracking my rereads until a couple months ago).

This is peak KJ Charles. The series is an ode to 1920s pulp fiction with a shadowy nemesis and an overarching plot that carries throughout the entire series. It’s funny and snarky and hot and the characters are fully formed and complex.

What I really love about this book is that in addition to the romance and intrigue, you get some insights into postwar 1920s London along with glimpses of feminism, race relations, classism, and the economic hardships of those coming back from the trenches. It really is an amazing book. Absolutely 100 million stars.

One of my favorite comfort reads, as well as one of my favorite romances legitimately ever. The banter, the sex scenes, the plot twists, all coalesce incredibly well. I'm always willing to come back to this one.

Slippery Creatures was an absolute blast. The noir vibe was so atmospheric and I felt transported into that time period. I thought it was a little hard to follow at times, but that also could have been a me issue. The pacing was fast and never faltered. Will and Kim were very interesting characters and I thought they were well fleshed out and had good development. This is a historical fiction, thriller, mystery, and romance all wrapped up in one, which was really enjoyable! I will definitely be picking up the rest of the series.
