One of the founders of my bookclub is getting married this week, and we thought it would be fun to choose a book like You're Invited for this month's read. Additionally, two bookclub member subscribe to a book-of-the-month service where this was included.

I decided to listen to this on Audible, and was very happy I did. There was more than one narrator, which made the story really dynamic and fun to listen to. My listening experience is mostly why I gave this a 3 star rating.

The story itself was just okay. I saw it as a Sri Lankan knock off of Crazy Rich Asians, which was far and away, much better. There were a few twists and turns in the end, some of which worked, but most of which felt overdone. The last 10 minutes are a little too Scooby-Doo for me, where someone reveals all of the mysteries in one long statement. There were so many I got confused.

In the end this was fun because it was on-theme for the month, but it's not something I would've chosen on my own to read, or something I'd recommend.

3.5 stars, lots of unexpected twists

I have to say that I enjoyed this one much more than I had anticipated from when I first started the book! One of the main reasons why I didn’t think I’d like it is because the MC I extremely unlikable. She comes off as a stalker and someone who doesn’t want others to be better than her but as the book progressed and things started to come to light my issues with her changed completely. I’m so glad I kept reading because honestly this books makes SO much sense once you get to the end. I highly recommend those who were feeling the same as me to keep reading! Now on to the book…

You’re Invited is an intense psychological thriller. It’s one of those books that things aren’t what they seem… You’ll have preconceived notions and come up with your own thoughts as to what happened but the reveal will make your head spin! I absolutely LOVED the ending and how twisted it was. And the writing style? Phenomenal. It reminded me of Liane Moriarty’s books (which I love btw) in the way its told so if you enjoyed her books this one will be a treat! Especially if you enjoy books in which the MC will do ANYTHING to stop her best friend’s wedding no matter the cost…

All in all, this one was really good and I defiantly recommend it!

I thought this was a good mystery! For most of the novel I hated almost every character, but in a good way. The only one I liked all the way through was Amaya. As each new secret was uncovered, the number of levels to this grand scheme grew more extensive and it all came together nicely. Although I started to like Kaavi towards the end, I still disliked her a lot after finishing. I would recommend for those who like a good mystery with many twists!

This was fine, I figured out most of the plot twists long before they happened but it still kept me engaged. Not the best I’ve read but it was entertaining.

The ending saved this book for me. The concept was there, but it fell short. It took too long to get to the twist. The characters were not enjoyable. Way too long/slow for a thriller.
