Sooo it took me two years to read the pretty cover that I swore kept popping up all over my tl! Finally got the chance to read The Never List and it’s really a cute romantic comedy! Esme and Trey were enemies to lovers and they started off all wrong! Not to mention her first date was with someone else when Esme met Tre. What started as a simple list thy she was dared to create to live her life before turning 40 turned into a connection with fate. It’s not so bad to try something new and not live in a box. Get out your comfort zone. It’s also feels good when someone wants to join you on that journey and that’s exactly what Tre did for Esme. I won’t give any spoilers but I will say this is a fun read but also long read. I underestimated the pages so it took me two days to complete. I would recommend and this book reminded of The Perfect Find by Tia Williams or I Think I Might Love you by Christina C Jones (all fun black girl romantic comedies.)

4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars!  Esme has created a “Never”  List of 10 items that she hopes to accomplish before her 40th birthday.  Her cousin, O’Neal suggests that she sign up for a dating app, which she does and someone asks her out on a date.  They agreed to have dinner and Esme went to the restaurant and her date is taking a long time to show up.

In the meantime, Trey is there with friends and sees that she’s alone and not using the other chair at her table and asks her if he can take the chair, and she was not the nicest to him.  Esme realizes that her date is to showing up and while she’s leaving the restaurant, something happens and Trey helps her out, and while she is thankful she isn’t impressed with him.

Esme and Trey cross paths again, and they unfortunately have to work together. They also each have their own family drama that they’re dealing with.  I really, really enjoyed their banter, and their enemies to love story was so good!  If you are into a slow burn with a happy ending, funny banter between them, fun family members and some drama along the way, I definitely recommend you read this book!

 I really liked this book.
The only issue I had was that sometimes I felt like the characters were younger. That was confusing me a little bit. But overall, this was good. Trey and Esme make a great couple and I wanted more. I would have loved if there was more of Trey and his sister. Maybe them amending their relationship. But I get it, the book was not about that.

So, I’ve had this book on my wish list for a while and I am so sorry that I waited so long to read it. This book was smart, funny, heart felt and just overall a joy to read. Very well done...

I saw so much of myself in these characters - more than being a love story, this was a story about stepping out of your comfort zone, letting people love you as you are and staying true to yourself. Loved it.
