Whilst 1984 is proclaimed as being revolutionary limits the readers ability to critically evaluate the novel as a whole. Yes the depiction of totalitarianism and hyper control and surveillance of the government "The Party" is well done. However the depiction of women was awful. The misogyny was dripping off the page. The four women that exist in this very male dominated novel were made out to be nothing less than a obsessive wife (Katherine), a stupid mother, a daughter more loyal to the Party than to her father and a young sex obsessed women who catfish's society into believing she is a 'good', 'clean' women.

I enjoyed reading 1984 and found it compelling, however the level of misogyn within the novel made me question; Is George Orwell misogynistic or is he denouncing misogyn ?
After reading a few articles about George Orwell and his wife and I believe it's more likely to be the first option.
