This book has, if not actually changed my life, definitely made it easier for me to work and not worry about it. I'm a self-employed writer, artist, and crafter, and a natural control freak, so even though I've always been more organized than the average person, it's very easy for me to get overwhelmed by my many projects. This book gave me lots of wonderful tricks that I've used to tweak my system into something that works beautifully for me. I'm so grateful!
I do have to say, the writing is not the best. Allen uses a lot of annoying business-speak, and he doesn't always explain his concepts in the clearest or least clunky language. Half the time I didn't quite understand what he was suggesting until I actually put it into action in my own life, but then it always worked! So if you're put off by the way the book is written but intrigued by the concepts, just jump in and give them a try. They've helped me so much.

This book is badly dated, but beyond that it's not anything every type A person already knows.
Fantastic. This is a classic book on getting organized and being productive. It integrates perfectly with Challies' Do More Better. Challies gets you going, Allen explains how and why it works. I plan to revisit this book in 3–6 months.
A classic. So many people have used Allan's tools, they have already shown they work. The trouble is getting though the book. Allan has about 5 good ideas, but these could easily be summed up in a third of space, and so it is easy to put this book down and forget it. The first third is a long-winded description of why you should use his methods. Most readers should just browse through. The second third is the meat of the book, in which Allan lays out how to change your life habits in order to be more productive. It is here where Allan succeeds; if you can truly change your ways, these methods can be life altering. The last third is devoted to another drawn out discussion about life goals and keeping up with your habits.
I break this book out each Friday for my weekly review. I am a true convert, but I feel Allan could have done a lot better if he distilled his methods down so that more people could relate to them and not get caught up in Allan's need to explain himself.

There are some very useful ideas in this book. I have already started using them and feeling much better. Getting things off my mind and into an organizational system seems to really help!
Re read the book again. Still an important book, however I am wondering, if there is any new version of GTD available including all the new digital advances over the last 15 years?
Had heard about the hype so decided to borrow it from the library.
I can say I understand the hype. The 'system' seems like a lot of work but I could see how it would work for some people.

This was pretty dry. And probably geared towards people other than myself. However I do like the idea that if your life is organized it frees up mental space to enjoy other things.
