A good read, many thrilling tales and also beautiful writing.

How can there not be spoilers? A friend pointed out this story is everywhere, even cartoons. Remember Tweety Bird and Sylvester? I don't know how to rate this story since I already knew the mystery that you wouldn't usually see read until the end. It has obviously made a lasting impression, so for that I'm giving it four stars. The Incredible Hulk is another iteration, made popular once again by Marvel's The Avengers movies. As far as the style, it was a little hard to get through at times, but it's short so that makes it go quickly. I didn't like how some of the characters were not very distinct. Some of the word choices were unfamiliar enough that I wanted to look up a couple of them, but mostly got the meaning from the context. I like reading on my Kindle for that reason...it is easy to learn new words. I started on a book this summer by J. F. Baldwin that uses this story as an analogy for how humans naturally house a sinful Hyde in them who will take over if you indulge them. Perhaps that is what Stevenson was communicating although I'm not sure he meant to. A friend says he probably felt the judgment of the time period when societal appearances were everything and demanding. No flaws allowed. The most poignant thing I learned about this book is something pointed out to me by the same friend: the story is full of condemnation but no hope or grace.

I was really hoping for more from this one. I have always loved the concepts, but found myself disappointed by their origins in this novella.

Fajna krótkac gdybym nie przeczytała spoileru na okładce to pewnie byłaby nawet fajniejsza. Plus wgl jest to fake info co jest jeszcze bardziej głupie, bo jekyll nie popełnia samobojstwa

eh… it’s just not what i expected? good writing tho.

Loved the story. The idea was great. A little hard to keep track of characters and the "transformation" but it's definitely worth the read.

I enjoyed the presentation of the narrative, the way our understanding builds slowly throughout. However, the conclusion didn't ensnare me the way I think it was meant to, and I do understand why most retellings make the changes they do.
