It hasn't been long since I read the previous book but I was anxiously waiting for this one to come out and it did not disappoint.

Mack's life is in tatters at the beginning of this book, and things get worse before they can finally get better. Apart from the big bad they have to deal with, Mack faces various other threats, from vampires, to descendants of an order sworn to kill off her kind. Corrigan is not speaking to her, her job as the head of the Counsil is stressful in the extreme and she can't seem to catch a break in general.

There are a lot of revelations both about her family and her heritage as a Draco Wyr and unexpected complications and events that keep changing everything. I did not expect the story to end the way it did, but I loved it anyway.
SpoilerThe romantic in me was delighted that Mack and Corrigan decided to run away together and leave everything that complicated their lives and relationship behind. The epilogue, describing their new lives and family living happily and quietly (after dealing with the various nasties in their little part of heaven, of course), was an excellent conclusion to their story.

The story is full of action and kept me turning pages and the whole series was thoroughly enjoyable. I'm glad I found it. I'll make sure to keep an eye out for the author's new series, Olympiana, and its first book, Eros, coming out sometime in early 2014, according to the note at the end of this book.
