I really enjoyed this book; good pacing and the story for sure draws you in. I 100% gasped when the first plot twist was revealed, but I have to say that the epilogue was kind of a downer. I wished the resolution had been different; it felt a bit disappointing after the journey of the novel.

So so good! Lots of twists and turns I didn’t immediately see coming. I would highly recommend this book if you are a fan of murder mysteries, secrets, and deception, this is your book.

Some quick notes - didn’t really enjoy this one. The plot dragged on until basically 70% of the book where it got interesting. The romance aspect was predictable but also felt misplaced? I don’t think it added complexity to the plot just because the characters and their motivations didn’t feel super believable. I wasn’t invested. Also I just wasn’t a huge fan of the writing style :( It was super descriptive, often including too many details with a fair amount that seemed not relevant. Lots of time it didn’t even paint a picture, it was just extra words.

I had other books by this other saved to read, but I’m wondering if I’m just not vibing with the writing style and pacing. Even the big reveal at the end felt underwhelming and not very exciting.

I also switched between the Kindle book and the audiobook to help finish because the descriptions were so unnecessarily long. The narrator did a good job at keeping my attention though with the audiobook.

3.5 ⭐️ thoughts:
• The first 160 pages were a bit unnecessary to paint the plot of the story
• The ending was definitely a shock and unique
•The page long paragraphs were a bit hard to get through
•It wasn’t a horrible book by any means, just maybe not for me

3.5 stars. so this was bordering really close to 4 stars for me because there were two major plot twists that truly gagged me and which i loved. however, the story has two alternating timelines is a struggle in itself and it was a bit annoying to follow along and not mess up the timelines in my head. there were also some unnecessary details and subplots which could have been avoided but either way they did contribute in somewhat minor ways to the overall plot.

sometimes it felt like it went on and on and got boring in some places so i’m a bit conflicted on whether i’m going to read the rest of this author’s books. i may read one more of his popular books and see how that one goes. hopefully it’s better than this one.
