I found myself laughing with every paragraph and thinking with every remark of the characters and the world, with every metaphor¹, "Man, Pratchett is a genius". Of course, that's nothing less than the expected. And Mort is even so more interesting, as Death may be the most fascinating character in the Discworld series (and since I saw the movie, I hear Christopher Lee's voice in my head, always a welcomed feeling). Even if I read Reaper Man before, where Death is more developed, more human, this book fully introduced us to this complex character, full of feelings and a heartwarming melancholy for that which he cannot have.
¹ i.e., "There should be a word for the microscopic spark of hope that you dare not entertain in case the mere act of acknowledging it will cause it to vanish, like trying to look at a photon. You can only sidle up to it, looking past it, walking past it, wainting for it to get big enough to face the world."
