Just so darn clever. Such wonderful use of language.
I'd even say if there is one book to set loose amongst teens as a way to assess their vocabulary and general knowledge and acclimatising them to western culture this is it. You could spend a week on a page.

Absolutely my favourite so far!! Death is awesome. Actually, Mort and Ysabelle are a ton of fun too. And Albert! They’re all fantastic!! So good!

While I’m glad I started Discworld from the beginning, I can see why some recommend starting with Mort. It feels like the best conceived/delivered tale yet, great concepts, witty execution, lovable characters, still with the scale that can feel both intimate and epic. I continue to love the tiny moments he throws in, e.g., Binky, Death’s horse, casually eating a 500 year old bonsai tree.

My first Pratchett novel! Can't say I loved it but I'm glad to finally explore Discworld. Upon finally reading, it's abundantly (retroactively) clear how much influence he's had over the writing of the fantasy and humor authors that are getting published today.
