Apparently, if you happen to find yourself harmed while strolling through that dangerous Fear Street, you better hope you don't receive care at the local Shadyside Hospital. The nurses are overworked and cranky, construction is ongoing on the Franklin Fear Wing, doctors are pranking each other in suspect ways, and severed heads are just lying out in the open. Our protagonist, Laurie Masters, finds this out the hard way as a student volunteer. That's right! No hazard pay. Or pay of any kind. But it's okay; she drives a BMW.

While Laurie has aspirations to one day be a doctor, it turns out she might be a better detective. Or at least a criminal as she steals information from patient records and eventually breaks into a house! But it's all for a good cause as she discovers something sinister going on in Shadyville Hospital, and I'm not talking about the blue meat in the cafeteria stew.

Let's run down those YA Thriller totals:

2 dead bodies (not counting the anatomy lab)

Kill Rating:

A donation is made by a descendent of the Fear family to build the Fear wing at the hospital. Surely, nothing bad will follow that scenario when a hospital volunteer starts investigating a former patient's situation. This book definitely could've used a better title.

Soooo I really enjoyed this book! Everyone was right! It’s more of a suspense/thriller.

I had a feeling Toby was a twin halfway through the book, and I only guessed there was an adoption ring going on because of Mrs.Deane calling someone on the phone.

I took a star off for the name. I know this fits in terms of the basic names Stine gives his books, but it’s just so bland.

Well what can I say about The Knife dang. That was a good book Stine never lets me down. Although I wish I read this as a kid, but as an adult this was good.

It’s about a girl named Laurie Masters and she is a volunteer at a hospital named Shadyside Hospital. And some stuff starts happening while she is working there.

She is working on the Child floor and she meets a child that she is worried about he tells her that this woman he is going home with is not his mom. She is so worried about him so she talke’s to a nurse. Well the nurse doesn’t like Laurie so she has here removed from the child wing. Then Laurie wants to confront the nurse, but something happens. She follows her and then finds her dead. The twist at the end of the book was not expecting that.

So I will not give you any more spoilers. You must read this book if you like thrills and mystery’s and R.L. Stine. Wow this book had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t put it down and when I did I was always thinking what is going to happen next. I would definitely tell people to read this book. Yes it is an older book, but dang I really enjoyed myself reading this book.

As always, I enjoyed the classic cheesiness that comes with reading any RL Stine novel. Laurie Masters was occasionally frustrating, and a terrible girlfriend honestly- constantly just using her boyfriends connections to get her along, but not even spending any time with him. I mainly felt bad for her though, considering no one believed her and made her out to seem crazy.

The ending turned out to be a lot different from what I thought it would lead up to. Since his books are quite short, it makes it a little hard to connect with the characters. But Laurie was likable.

Overall, it wasn't my favorite of his books, but it was well plotted, and I just flew through the second half.

This book is one of the "what the hell, your kidding" thoughts. Its enjoyable, mystery & horror together (my opinion). I like it.

This was actually one of the better Fear Street books. I did not expect that ending at all!
