Stunning. Absolutely stunning.

Gleam is a RIVETING story. Auren’s journey has been such a whirlpool of emotions these past three books but I think this one might just be my favorite one so far. The development of this world has been so neatly done and has expanded into something so unlike anything I’ve ever read before.

Raven Kennedy has such a way with words as well, this entire book is so beautifully written. It’s clear to see her growing as an author with these books and it especially shows throughout ‘Gleam.’ The scene where Auren admits her true feelings to Slade is one of my favorites, simply because of how it’s written. She has a way of making simple metaphors seem alluring. The wordplay is just so intensely pretty that it’s hard to move on. She absolutely knows how to pull your heartstrings with a few words and it shows just how brilliant her mind is.

Auren finding herself and how power was such a heartrenching thing to read about. My heart broke for her over and over again while I rooted for her every step of the way. The courage she built to be able to eventually overtake Midas and truly become what she is capable was just so exhilarating to finally see play out. Though this is only the beginning of her true power, I’m nervous for what is to come. Her ribbons being cut off by Midas not only infuriated me it broke me and I hate that Auren is going to have to live with that piece of her being dormant probably forever…but now it makes me curious as to what Slade’s power will do to her now that he fused it within her own to help control her own power…

Slade had me on my kicking my feet the entire time— per usual. His cocky personality got irritatingly more attractive with each time he was around. But it made me so content to know that he would never give up on Auren no matter what. To know that he believed in her even when she didn’t believe in herself. Oh! And plot twist— fake RIP is actually his brother, Ryatt! (Does anyone in these books have normal names??)

Queen Malina is still on her own adventure but it was kind of cut off abruptly and I don’t know how to feel about it. I feel like she’s hiding too many things for me to honestly be able to say how I feel about her because I genuinely do try to understand where she’s coming from most of the time.

MIDAS IS DEAD! …or is he, I have a feeling that even though Auren gold touched him, it doesn’t mean it’ll stay that way. But let’s hope it does! This scares me for what Queen Kaila might end up having planned now that her plan is kind of in ruin at the moment…

Overall this book was everything I wanted and expected it to be. And for it to be my first five star review of the year is saying a lot so now everything after will have to live up to it— which is great. This is definitely a book I’ll have to come back to later on because it is just too stunning of a novel not to. Everyone should read this series if they get a chance it is so empowering and fun and crazy, it’s everything you could ever want in a fantasy-filled series.

The twists and turns have me! This series fully has me in a chokehold. I giggled, the spice was….SPICY. The mouth on that man is 🤌🏼! The amount of things that come to light in this one is brilliantly written. I loved that we also got some of the back story on Auren.

The cliffhanger, of course cuts me deep so I will be picking up the next one immediately! 5⭐️’s all around!
