It started out really promising, I liked the characters nearly instantly.  Then a few chapters in, not as much.  Some of the conflict seemed a bit dramatic, in a way that could have been easily solved.  It was kinda weird to read because at first it seemed like a YA but then all of a sudden there was spice.  Which is fine but it was just boring and when they got together it was like all the chemistry they had left out the window.  It had another white cis man being too emotional without knowing the full story because of his own insecurities.  I know he had past trauma but so did Chloe and she didn’t jump to conclusions so quickly without being mature about the whole situation of him finding out he was on her list.  Kinda ruined the book for me tbh.  So I just have mixed feelings.  I liked some parts of it but I also disliked some parts of it.

1/4/23: DNF at 11% - I tried with the audiobook but I’m just hating it, I’m so sorry. I will try to pick up a physical copy and see if I like it better. 

Update 4/17/23:
I am SO glad I gave this one a shot! It’s so fun and sexy but also relatable and inclusive. The main protagonist is chronically ill and not “traditionally” pretty/thin (ie western beauty standards) but neither of those things are the focus- they just are. And a love interest who just gets it and is a human about it? The bar is on the floor, ladies, I know. But that’s sexy and hell. 

Also, side notes: I’m not sure why but I thought (perhaps some mixture of the title and cover art? Idk) and it is NOT. this book is spicy as hell. 🥵
Take my audiobook sensitivities with a grain of salt but I actually believe this audiobook is legit horrible so just skip that and read the book/ebook

Its fun. The spice may be over exaggerated, but this is a classic rom-com anyone can enjoy.

Ein wirklich tolle Romanze und vor allem wird ein wirklich wichtiges Thema angesprochen, dass viele leider noch gar nicht kennen.

Die Charaktere an sich auch recht divers für NA Bücher, was das ganze noch besser gemacht hat. Die Repräsentation verschiedenster Sachen war in diesem Buch wirklich top und ich freue mich schon auf die Romanzen der anderen Brown-Geschwister.

Die Handlung entwickelt sich zwar slow, aber auch sehr romantisch und passt einfach perfekt zu den Charakteren (und es gibt natürlich auch etwas spice, wofür sich das warten lohnt).

Beide Protagonisten sind sehr gut ausgearbeitet und haben mit ihren eigenen psychischen und physischen Problemen zu kämpfen. Besonders Chloes Krankheit wurde sehr gut dargestellt, obwohl das Krankheitsbild so unterschiedlich sein kann und da ich die selbe Erkrankung habe, konnte ich besonders mit Chloe und ihrem Lebensstil mitfühlen.
Auch andere wichtige Themen wie toxische Beziehungen und seelischer Missbrauch wurden angesprochen und gut damit umgegangen.
