I love dirt too, people who question
the nation because of what their tracks
betrayed. I have smiled up at a flag,
recognizing in its gentle
sway the violence I fear most. A poet claps,
"I won't kiss your fucking flag." And I smile.

I am so very lucky to have been gifted a copy of this book by the author himself, and a dear friend of mine, Hari Alluri. I know it might sound biased, and so what if it is, I will read anything Hari Alluri writes even if it's a list of reasons why he hates me. Actually, specifically that. I hope he writes that.

Anyway, this book is an early taste of the brilliance that Kuya Hari embodies every day. If you get the chance to hear him perform his work live, you will know what it is like to be transported.

Hari is a wizard with words and an alchemist of the heart through his poetry.
