I guess after the first two books, and the ending of Spells, I went into this one with a bit of too-high expectations..
I must say...I HATE love triangles.
Other than that, great book, great story. Super interesting.
But Laurel is too indecisive, and Tamani and David are too pushy

3.5 stars, rounded up. The romantic angst dominates this story far more than it did in [b:Wings|5056084|Wings (Wings, #1)|Aprilynne Pike|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1275773575s/5056084.jpg|5122699] and [b:Spells|6801582|Spells (Wings, #2)|Aprilynne Pike|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51dWyNo-EqL._SL75_.jpg|7008092] as poor Laurel can't seem to make up her mind. But considering that half the book is narrated from Tamani's perspective (amongst other clues), I can't help but feel like we're starting to head in that direction. Too bad, as I was definitely leaning Team David. *sigh*
Otherwise, not a ton going on in this book as we transition into the final conflict sure to come in the next (and final) book. But still, if there's one thing that author Aprilynne Pike does very well it's writing conclusions that make you very eager to find out what comes next. This proved true again as the intrigue surrounding newcomer Yuki finally got interesting in the last few pages of this book. I am confident that the final installment will build on her story and bring the series to a satisfying conclusion.

I absolutely adored Wings and Spells. Illusions was no different. It was a fast-paced journey I couldn't put down and I loved it. I have to say, Illusions, had a slightly different feel than the first two. For me at least!
Illusions picks up with Laurel beginning her senior year with David, whom she thought she finally made her love choice. But, dun dun dun out of the blue, Tamani returns in all his hot, sexy glory and informs Laurel that something has been going on and she needs protecting once again. With trolls disappearing, Klea returning with a mysterious young girl named Yuki, Laurel having love issues, and trying to deciding where she'll end up in life... Illusions is surely a story you don't want to miss!
Let me start by saying, I'm still Team Tamani! In the first book, I loved them both. In the second, I started to move towards Tam, and well! I'm still Team Tamani all the way!! David is a sweet heart I do like him, I just like Laurel with Tamani more. Plus, I have a feeling Chelsea and David may end up together!
With Illusions, its not so much faerie as it is development. We see huge struggles in Laurel... She's fighting her emotions constantly on which boy she should chose and if she should return to Avalon or stay on earth. This was such a tough book for Laurel, and man when Tamani was with Yuki, I found myself getting jealous, I wanted to slap the smile off her face too! I also really hope we see more Avalon in book four, I missed it!
There so many great quotes in this story. And I totally relate when Laurels mom tells her "There are many different kinds of love." Just because someone has been there for you, doesn't mean you're in love with them and I can so relate, man can I. It's these types of books I love, when I relate to the situations. They make you stop and think "waaaiiit a second". Just because it's a fictional book doesn't mean it can't help you in real life.
Overall, fantastic book in the series and I am DYING for book four! Oh heck how Illusions ended!!! Like What?!! I need book four like two days ago! And final words... Team Tamani <3 :)

Another fabulous installation in one of my new favourite series.
I will say, I wanted to punch Laurel in the face basically every chapter of this one and shout WOMAN, DAVID IS A LOSER, GO CHOOSE TAM. In fact, I may have said it out loud more than once while flying through this book.
Now I'm certain there's a war brewing, and damned if I don't trust Klea at all. There's something odd there (or maybe I just have a hate on for idiots who wear sunglasses at night!).
I'm still a billionty percent on the side of Tam, and goodness me, if I'm ever to turn into something related to a blade of grass, I'll have one of him for my very own. Yep.
Zooming right along to the final book (cries). Here's hoping for a Laurel-Tam finale, or I'll be mighty sad in the pants.

I disliked this book because of how it portrayed the relationships. This is just my opinion, but it bothered me. I was excited because the ratings seemed better for this book out of the series too.

I really didn't like how wishywashy Laurel was with her decisions on who to love.
I hated that Tam's whole life was Laurel-or nothing, it's pretty concerning the obsession he has with being with Laurel. It's not healthy at all.
Poor David, not only was he dealing with the uncertainty that came with him clearly knowing something was going on between Laurel and Tam behind his back... but then he got dumped, and then he decided to continue to help her by continuing to risk his life!
This book just really bothered me, half of it was Laurel just trying to decide who she wanted to be with more. With a nice raging of jealous from everyone, and whatever plot was the background noise.
Not to mention with a name like Yuki, all the surprise of what kind of Faerie she is, was lost.
Onwards to the next book and hoping for better.

After reading spells the second book I didn't have high hopes for this next one. Although many parts in this book were predictable I was pleasantly surprised by the flow of it and how much I enjoyed reading it. I also didn't expect the ending which of course is lovely!

Remarkable and captivating, Illusions gives you a torturous ending that leaves you breathless and desperate for more. I don't know how I will survive a whole year until the final book releases and we get to see how Laurel's story ends and who she will finally choose.
