I’m going to start of by saying that I read this because of the show and realized how they changed the backstory in the show, and this may be a mistake on my part for watching the show first buttt I did like the show more, but I still loved the 1st season of the webtoon and I am loving the 2nd season so far

Best comic I've ever read /gen

The author is a genius. I feel connected to every character, even the villains, because of how well developed the story is. They have an amazing skills in pacing the story between present and past, while leading to a crescendo that always pays off. In short, I'm obsessed.

Having read this when it was first published on WEBTOON to binge reading all chapters again in 3 days, the only regret I had was not finishing it sooner. I never realize how much I fell in love with the characters and their dynamic to each other. I love reading main cast of friends growing stronger in emotional and physical strength with each other. The whole story is very action packed; somewhere someone’s getting beaten up or somewhere a serious fight commences between the different colored haired students.
It’s a shame the story ended where it did and a bit too soon may I add. So many more stories could have been explained I would’ve eaten it up. But I will reread anytime again and come back when and if the author creates more.

On the surface, '약한 영웅' has all the making of a run-of-the-mill, high school, action Manhwa, with the coming of age, camaraderie between battle-brothers sort of plot which would feed the need for blood and violence inside you.

As the story progresses, however, we are made privy to the backstories of these characters, and how these young men, came to this violent juncture in their life. Surprisingly, most, even most of the 'bad guys' are more akin to misguided teenagers, than malicious evil lords.

How, through various conflicts and tribulations, these boys manage to forge a bond of fellowship, and share their past traumas, in an almost cathartic way, is a parallel story track.

Gray Yeon, our protagonist, threads a unique line, as the titular 'weak hero', Gray is physically unimpressive, often appearing as if a stiff wind would knock him over. Several of his challengers also make the same presumption. But to see him overcome the wall of physical weakness, and use his keen intelligence and inherent battle instinct, to take down opponents much, much stronger than him, is a treat to behold. But, at the same time, Gray is not a battle junkie. He's studious and responsible student, who just won't let any half-assed delinquent walk all over him, and would never abide to bullying, as he is constantly in remembrance of what that did to his past.

The other members of the main group of heroes, all have their past traumas, owing to unnecessary violence and posturing. (Seeing the general climate of the manhwa, one would be remiss in thinking, that all high schools are filled with violent sociopaths who make bullying a daily extra curricular activity). But all of them are good kids, and in times of need, have each others back, and in times of peace are there as patient listeners.

In particular Ben Park, the resident leader and strong man, who takes a big brother role for Gray and the others, as well as Teddy Jin, the former delinquent who is shown to have an empathetic heart, are notable for their character growth through the series.

With engaging action, stakes, and a roller coaster of character emotions, '약한 영웅' will keep you interested in what happens next.

Am I planning to read it because ken suson recommended it during his live? Maybe
