Being a microfiction, this is a read that you really have to stick with past the first 70 pages. That's when you really begin to understand just what the heck is going on, and who the characters you're dealing with are. That said, there were many story lines that simply seemed to peter out. For instance, the ones with the orphans on Avenir; I would have loved to see more of them, simply because--yes, please, futuristic Oliver Twist-esque scenarios and little kids stealing things from rich people. Can you tell I have a type in my literature?

There were also certain narratives and styles that shone a lot more than others. One of my favorites, which rose a bit late in the book, was Fred Warren's. It was political, and intriguing, and mysterious, and basically just awesome. I also liked the storylines that dealt with the Angels quite a bit--Greg Mitchell's had a lot of this, as did Travis Perry's (oh, and Ernsto is my favorite. Idec what you say), even though Perry's strayed away from my favorite character about halfway through and only gave a nod back. Noooo, I want to know what happened to Ernsto stahp it...

Anyway. My token frustrations with individual storylines aside, this really was an excellent read. The way the different characters play off each other, living in this same world with their own individual stories and lives, is amazingly done. Four stars.
