I liked learning about someone I didn’t know of before, especially someone of color. However I found the book to be a bit slow and dry. Hopefully students will enjoy it. I loved the Spanish and English translations.

An absolutely marvelous bilingual*, middle-grade biography of Julio C. Tello, Peruvian Archaeologist and member of Congress. It tells not only his story, but speaks to the importance of people telling their own stories rather than having those stories told by outsiders who, more often than not, fail to consult those individuals with living experiences of the topic.

This is really well done! It’s too long for B&B story time but it was really good.

One page in Spanish, one in English tells a wonderful story that not only shows how the past can be kept alive, but also how a spark can ignite a passion.

Who is studying which cultures? Peru was lucky to have Julio C. Tello, and you can learn about him in this bilingual picture book.
