It was decent. Not among my favorite books, I will eventually read the next book in the series but it is not one I am racing to get my hands on.

I enjoyed this in ways I didn't expect. When I first saw this, I expected more of a retelling. Nope. Not really. I mean her reality is flipped around around and all but still...Different than what I thought I was getting into. But I enjoyed it! These zombies are like no other zombies. I liked the creativity of them. I really liked Ali's character. Cole I have mixed thoughts on. At first I couldn't stand him but he did grow on me a bit. But I think part of that is because Ali could hold her own. When I first read this it was a hardback that sometimes felt slow (especially the first 75%) and not much happened. But the reread was via audiobook. The narrator really brings the characters to life. In the best moments and the annoying, drama-filled ones. And I am not an audiobook person so this is saying something. 5 stars to the narration!

A little Alice in Wonderland + a new take on zombies = a great story! Alice in Zombieland is fun, sexy, witty, sarcastic and a tiny bit scary. Showalter has managed to create a new form of zombie, which in an age of zombie stories that is saying something. Sure her zombies eat people and if you are infected you will turn into one, but that is the only similarity to your regular zombie. These are spirit zombies who are not seen by normal people. Only a select few can see them. Doesn't mean you can't be eaten, you just can't see what is eating you.

In this world we find Alice. Alice leads a sheltered life mainly because her dad refuses to let anyone in her family out after dark (the monsters might get you). But one night Alice convinces him to go out and tragedy strikes; her family is killed in a car wreck and then eaten by zombies. Alice goes to live with her grandparents and attends a whole new school. She meets Kat, who becomes her best friend, and Cole, the local bad boy who Ali is insanely attracted to. From Cole she learns more about the zombies and how to fight them. And she learns that they are not the only one interested in zombies. There are other factions out there that aren't interested in killing the monsters but using them. Ali, Cole and the gang have to figure out what is going on and get out of it alive.

I devoured this book. The entire time I was reading it I was reminded of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. A smart, sarcastic, witty girl who is chosen for a special destiny; her gang of friends that helps her fight monsters; a hot guy with a past who may or may not be her soul mate. They even call themselves slayers! I loved Buffy and I love Alice. The comparison did not hurt this book in the least. Alice in Zombieland was just too fun and too new to put down. I can't wait for the next installment of the White Rabbit Chronicles.

I picked up this book because I love Alice in Wonderland but this book isn't very much like Alice in Wonderland. Sure the main characters name is Alice, there's a sarcastic character name Kat, and a rabbit shape. That's pretty much where the similarities end.

That said this book was actually really hard to put down. Lots of suspense, action, and some romance. The new twist on zombies was actually quite thought out.

there are zombies and the main character's name is Alice but it isn't a retelling of Alice in Wonderland which kinda disappointed me but I still loved it!!

Hi, this book is named Alice in Zombieland, even though it has really nothing to do with Alice in Wonderland except the main character's name and a white rabbit cloud. WAY TO BE AUTHOR. I wish someone would rewrite this who had talent and an interesting story. BUT WHATEVER.
So, let's start this review off, shall we?
First of all, this is written so, so horribly. Its a mess of slang and trying too hard, and it is just so annoying. Then there's the tropes. Alice is sooooo special. She's the specialist. She has a best friend who is awesome, and ohmygod what are these slutty slut sluts doing that are interested in boys? GIRLS INTERESTED IN BOYS? OHMAHGOD NO! NO GIRL CAN BE INTERESTED IN BOYS BUT ME AND MY BFF. Oh and what boys too. The first time she sees Cole, she's all "he looks serial killer esque" and then she literally has like a five paragraph fantasy of them making out. MAN NOTHING SAYS MAKE OUT TIME LIKE SERIAL KILLERS, AMIRIGHT? I see someone and I think, man, they look like bad news and like they would murder me, and then I just want to make out with their face. All the time. Even better if they're an asshole, they "snap their teeth at me" (MORE THAN ONCE. MORE THAN ONCE GUYS) and if they are really demanding. I mean, I love it when some guy demands my number and is an ass about it and acts super controlling. And the entire time its like OHH MYY GAWWWDD DOES COLE LOVE ME HE DOESN'T HE IS STARING DAGGERS AT ME AND HE BEAT UP A GUY BECAUSE I WAS WITH HIM EVEN THOUGH WE HAVEN'T REALLY TALKED THAT MUCH BUT DOES HE LOOVVEEEE ME HE DOESN'T CRY CRY CRY... I mean I know my ENTIRE FREAKING FAMILY IS DEAD IN A HORRIFIC CAR CRASH but what I am really worried and mooning over is whether this guy likes me back.

Yeah....I'm going to go with a big fat no. This was awful. Terribly written, full of YA tropes, and full of annoying characters and obvious twists. Do not want.

Words cannot describe how much I loved this book.
I really want to read the second book which is: Through the Zombie Glass.
Zombie's have to be one of my favorite creatures, monsters, whatever you want to call them. :)
I would really love for other people to read this book! :D

Ugh! I thought the book on ereads would be like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, but the only likeness to the original novel is the name Alice and the title. Had I known this was a Harlequin teen romance (I never knew such a genre existed), I would have quit. I wanted more zombie action, but the monsters were nothing like The Walking Dead, and the main character was more preoccupied with her friends and hot guys at school than she was with her family's slaughtering. I think if I was 13, this book might be tolerable, but as an adult, the writing was a watered-down Harlequin. And readers know what kind of substance those books have. Overall, don't bother.
