Terrific lighthearted love story duo--- grat rainy day read for me. The book follows two longtime female friends who work for a ball team and must relocate for the job. The female characters are beset by real life problems that stem from difficult childhoods. The wealthier male characters are not without their own troubles; mixing it all into a relationship is the basis for the book. I think Kate Angell conveyed a realistic portrayal of human emotion and relationships. Great read.

Though I didn't mind the story or the characters, the writing felt awkward and clunky. I think this could have used another edit.

Kate Angell never fails to deliver and her latest Barefoot Williams book doesn't disappoint, especially with the wonderful tie in with her Richmond Rogues series.
Every time I revisit this series I come away wishing I lived in this town and this book is no exception.
I love romances with both a primary and secondary romance. Whilst the focus was on Aidan/Jillie Mac (and Sadie of course <3), Mike/Carrie were the more interesting couple for me. The jacuzzi scene was a real highlight.
My only mini-gripe is that the book ended with 2 engagements - given the short time frame that both couples knew each either for I thought that was just a bit too sugary sweet.

If you’ve read No Tan Lines and No Strings Attached, the first two Barefoot William books, you know exactly what to expect from No Sunshine When She’s Gone. There are a ton of quirky and fun characters, a heart-tugging romance, and lots of friends and family just waiting to make you smile.
Put on some sunscreen and find some space in the sun, it’s time to settle in and enjoy another fantastic summer read by Ms. Angell … No Sunshine When She’s Gone is a can’t miss, guaranteed to put you in a happy, beachy kind of mood.

No Sunshine When She's Gone is the 3rd book in the Barefoot Willams series by Kate Angell. It is also the first book that I have had the privilege to read by this amazing author. I loved this book so much I rushed to download the first two books in the series. Although this was the 3rd in the series at no time did I feel like I was lost or missing something. This book can totally be read as a stand alone in the series. Let me tell you a little about this wonderful story that has me hooked and craving the other books in the series.
This story is actually the story of 2 different couples, Aidan Cates and Jillie Mac , and Carrie White and Mike Burke. Both of their stories are intertwined. Jillie and Carrie work in Promotions for the Richmond Rogues Baseball team. Aidan and Mike are building their new Spring Training Facilities in Barefoot Williams, Florida. As the story starts, Aidan and his girlfriend mistake Jillie for a fortune teller at a pier carnival. Isn't he shocked to find out that she is not who he thinks she is. Not until later that night when they arrive at his sisters does he truly learn Jillies identity. It is also the night that Mike has meet his match in shy, quiet, sweet, innocent Carrie White. He is rude and aloof, refers to her as Vanilla. But under it all, he takes an interest in Carrie, and she in him, both realizing that there is more to the other than meets the eye.
Jillie is one to bend the truth at times, she is fiercely loyal, loves her family, protects her friends, and feels an instant attraction to Aidan. But Jillie has been burned in the past, is always looking for an escape route. She doesn't trust that Aidan's feelings could be as strong as hers, so she keeps trying to push him away. It is not until she stops running, starts to really look at the possibilities that she begins to realize that she and Aidan could have something amazing. Carrie is afraid to believe that Mike can actually see past the uncertain girl, the girl damaged by an abusive father, she is totally surprised by the direction that their friendship takes. Uncertain of a future, she tries to live in the moment and knows that she is a better person because of what Mike has brought into her life.
I truly love both couples. The humor in this story had me laughing hysterically at times. Mike and Jillie would bicker over Mike's treatment of Carrie, Aidan and Mike would commiserate over how Jillie would nail them to the wall if they did not watch their step. Mike was super protective and loving with Carrie, doing little things to try and make things easier for her without trying to suffocate her. Jillie and Aidan dancing around the attraction that they felt for each other, both couple finally getting to the heart of the matter and seeing a HEA in their futures.
If you are looking for a feel good book about friends, family, a lot of laughs and a wonder double HEA, then pick up a copy of No Sunshine When She's Gone by Kate Angell. You will get so much more than you ever expected. I loved wonderful story so much I had to give it 5 AMAZING Stars.

This was a quick read. It was your typical, unrealistic, predictable romance. And I loved every second of it.

I felt an immediate connection to newfound author, Kate Angell, and fellow Floridan, in Southwest, Florida (loved her bio as sounds as though she loves life and her passion is reflective in her work).
As I reside on the Southeast Florida coast, always enjoy traveling to the west side of the state, whether a road trip for the weekend via car to charming areas Siesta Key, Sarasota, Naples or Tampa. Or, frequently, when I do not have the time to make the drive across the state, I enjoy being transported, via a good read to the area. The lives and the people are always different on both sides of Florida (when you are an insider-you know).
The novel opens in a charming beachside town in Florida - Barefoot William, with wealthy and sexy, Aidan Cates at a Psychic Fair along the boardwalk with his date Lila. (I love astrology, and my favorite thing to do – a tarot card reading)--my last one in New Orleans most definitely came true). So immediately was pulled in, along with the stunning front cover.
Aidan, a skeptic who happens to be with Lila at the fair, when Lila suggests a reading (she wants to be married) and he is not interested. They sit down at a table thinking they are getting a reading with psychic, Aeries Martine. Aidan is indeed shocked when the psychic informs Lila she is in love with Roger (her boss and owner at Sleek Magazine, a confirmed bachelor), and she is using Aidan to make him jealous. She thought if she dated someone equally as wealthy and handsome as Roger that she would get his attention-however, her little plan backfired. Of course, Aidan is relieved, as he gives him the opportunity to break free as he is not ready for marriage. On the other hand, Lila’s little secret comes out and she has neither man.
Another surprise, the gal giving the reading is not Aerie. The imposter is none other than impulsive, Jillian Mac! Wow, twice deceived in one day- how did she know about this deception? This is only the beginning of fun for Jill and sexy, Aidan.
For sure, Jill captures Aidan’s attention- he is intrigued, begins his pursuit, and the sparks continue. Jill Mac and her friend Carrie (works for Jillian) happen to be in Florida to build fan support for the Rogues’ new spring training facility, which will be built by handsome Aidan Cates, successful contractor and part of the family that runs the town.
With two unlikely couples, different pasts (also another match going on between Carrie and Aidan’s second in command, Mike and evidently characters from previous books, which I have not read), with lots of twists--this could be a standalone; however, would like to read the earlier books in the series to connect with all the characters.
With lots of Florida sunshine, long summer nights of romance and humor, a lighthearted fun read for spring and lazy summer days on the beach! http://judithdcollins.booklikes.com/post/866638/onsunshinewhenshesgone

Fun book. It opens as Aidan, who owns the successful construction company building the new baseball training facility, and his girlfriend wander the Psychic Festival on the pier at Barefoot William. Lily wants to know what's in store for their relationship, while Aidan knows exactly where it's going - and it isn't the altar. When Lily settles on a psychic, neither she nor Aidan expects the reading they received. In a great scene, the psychic opened Aidan's eyes, then disappeared before he discovered she was an imposter. Determined to confront her, Aidan sets off in hot pursuit, eventually catching up with her.
Jillie arrived in Barefoot William a few days before she starts work. As the Community Liaison for the Richmond Rogues, it's her job to drum up support for the team while their new spring training facility is built. On her first day in town, she explores the place she'll live for the following year. While resting her feet at an empty table, she couldn't resist the chance to have a little fun and save Aidan from disaster at the same time. But while she knows who he is, he has no idea that they'll soon work together.
I enjoyed the first meeting between Jillie and Aidan. The sparks flew between them from the start, though not all of them were pleasant. Jillie tends to bend or stretch the truth on occasion, while Aidan is a straight shooter. Jillie's revelations were a slight blow to Aidan's pride though he wouldn't admit it. Jillie felt a little guilty, but having been on the receiving end of a similar situation, she thought Aidan should know sooner rather than later. When they meet again, once Aidan gets over his anger at the deception and learns of their connection, he wants to get to know her better. Jillie is a little gun shy, having just ended a relationship.
I liked watching Jillie and Aidan get to know each other. Aidan is a nice guy, confident, and well-known for his kindness. He's close to his family and protective of them. Jillie is fun and free-spirited, but she has trouble trusting in others' ability to commit, thanks to childhood baggage. I enjoyed watching Aidan show Jillie around his town and work his way past her walls with the help of his dog, Sadie. He quickly realizes that he more than likes her but tries to be patient with her fears. Jillie's feelings for Aidan are just as strong, but she has trouble believing that he's in it for the long haul. When she freaks out over those feelings, it takes patience on Aidan's part and some advice from her friend Carrie to help her past her fears. I liked Jillie's courage in facing her fears and confessing her feelings to Aidan.
I loved seeing Jillie settle into life in Barefoot William. She is very much a people person, and there were some terrific scenes of her doing her job around the town. I thoroughly enjoyed the Rogues vs. town softball game and how Jillie made it work. Aidan had an amusing flare-up of jealousy regarding one of the Rogues players, and I laughed out loud at the resolution of that incident. She showed her creative bent with community relations with an exciting idea involving the facility's sidewalk. I hope to see more of her and Aidan in future books.
There was a secondary romance between Jillie's friend and coworker Carrie, and Aidan's second-in-command, Mike. Mike is a rough around the edges guy who is bitter about how his baseball dreams ended. He tends to be snide and sarcastic when he isn't comfortable. This attitude is front and center when Mike and Carrie meet, making some very obnoxious remarks to and about her. A victim of severe abuse as a child, Carrie came out the other side with a surprisingly good attitude. However, she does have some self-esteem issues, which make her wary of Mike's interest. I liked seeing them first become friends. Mike turns out to be surprisingly sweet and protective, and I enjoyed seeing him do little things to make her life easier. It didn't take long for attraction to blossom, and deeper feelings quickly followed. Mike's life takes a surprising twist, and I liked Carrie's effect on how he viewed it. I liked the ending of their story.

Kate Angell is so amazingly great at story telling! I absolutely loved this book. It is my second read of this series and thought it would be difficult to love the story and characters as much as I did with book 2 in the barefoot Williams series, but Jillian Mac and Aidan were soooo good together. And then the side couple as well!! Oh yes!!! This book was the perfect contemporary read and some how I always just dive into these stories.
I cannot wait to continue with the Barefoot Williams series!
