Listened to it on CD and LOVED it!!! Have not seen the movie but hard to believe it can be as good as the book. one of my top 10 favs
adventurous dark funny inspiring fast-paced

Near-magical coincidences in the horrific life of an impoverished orphan make it possible for him to win fame, fortune, and the girl in this modern fairy tale.

After reading this, I want know more about the real India.

Took me a little longer to read this one just because I've been slacking on reading and playing Zelda. It was pretty good. I loved how the chapters were divided up by the game show questions. I'd seen the movie but couldn't remember it too well. I'm not sure if that's why I feel some of the story was a little too predictable and convenient. It was really good though. I really enjoyed the writing. Definitely recommend.

Way way way better than the movie.

I might be biased from having watched the movie first, but I thought the writing was pretty plain. The concept was interesting but it seems like they took the idea for the movie, took out all the details from the book, and created an oscar winner...anyway my opinion might not really count because I committed the ultimate sin of not finishing it.

Excellent! Reading a book, when you have already seen the film version, is a little risky; you will compare the storyline over and over until the end. I did find myself doing this but found that the book and the film are almost so different that it was a waste of time to make these comparisons. If you are reading this and you have seen the movie, there is no point in me telling you about the book. This is a very clever story that will keep you on your toes as the author weaves this young man's experiences into a tale that is amusing.

I loved this book. It was touching and funny and suspenseful and innocently profound.
