I'm happy to say this fared just as well after a second reading. The plot is more intricate and more interesting than the film adaptation, though I understand some of the revision choices. Some chapters are quite dark, but the narrative thread keeps it hopeful. Fans of the movie may be surprised at how few episodes are intact, but it is well worth the investment.

This book was a pleasant surprise. I loved the structure. It kept me engaged and was hard to put down. Completely different from anything I have ever read and loved that Swarup brought us all into his culture which is richly prevalent in this piece. I look forward to seeing more from this author.

School required read. Did not enjoy.

Great story. Interesting spotlight on India.
