I had no clue what to expect going into this story, but ended up really liking its style and learning about all these different events in Ram’s life that happened to allow him to answer all 10 questions on W3B correctly. Even though a lot of the stories were kinda depressing, there was still happiness to be obtained in the end
with the lawyer coming back around from his past to help him out, him getting to meet with Salim again in the times that he could, and getting married to the love of his life once his innocence was proven
. As well, it was also refreshing getting to read a story set in a country that I don’t know much about. Despite India being one of the most populated countries in the world, there’s a lot I don’t know about it and I think the information I do know tends to be filtered through an “American” lens. I think the only major thing that struck me as weird was how homosexuality was discussed in the story. It is shown in a negative light a lot of the time, which may not age well for a modern day audience reading this book. I don’t think many South Asian countries view LGBT+ in a positive light so it makes sense, but sometimes it does feel like that trope of “oh yeah the villain is also a gay/pedo” just as a way to exacerbate their evilness/flaws when it is not needed.

Fans of the Slumdog Millionaire movie who couldn't get enough might want to check this out... I understand it's different in a lot of ways. The audiobook narrator was great.

This is the book that Slumdog Millionaire was based on. I throughly enjoyed it. The stories behind the story are different from those in the movie so I'd say it's worth reading even if you did see the movie.
