I fell in love with this brother-sister pair and their relatable conflicts and closeness. Highly recommend the audiobook, read by Tom Hanks! That definitely propelled me forward in what otherwise would have been a somewhat dry book for me. I loved seeing the future, how things continued/ended, the explanation of the cover photo. I think the writing style was unique too, the kind of “accidental flashbacks/flash-forwards” were conversational and easy to follow and enjoy.
All in all, I was very pleased with what happened to the Dutch House- “The story of my sister is the only one I ever meant to tell,” Danny said, and somehow that is the only story he told- it just so happens her story was intertwined with his and the house’s.

A heartbreaking yet beautiful story. I loved Maeve and Danny's relationship and their journey through life. Despite all of the hardships they faced, they had each other and a wonderful support system around them. I loved the lack of emphasis on whether something was right or wrong. A choice was made and everyone just had to deal with the consequences. I didn't love the glorification of the landlord business and the mother's white savior complex, but it felt relevant to the story so not the biggest deal. Patchett explored the questions of "what do we owe each other" and "how long do we hold on to our past and any resentment before it holds us back" really well. Really enjoyed this!

Excelente. A ler, definitivamente.
