I really enjoyed my first Agatha Christie novel, all the more so that its been almost 100 years since its initial publication. There's a wonderful, classical feel to it, yet it is still immensely readable and relevant to today's mystery readers.

I listened to this on audio, which was a fun way to read it but I found it a bit difficult to keep up with all the small details such as everyone's alibis, the timeline, the crime scene evidence etc. so I felt a bit lost at times. Saying that, Poirot is intended to be a genius and the writing is clever in itself so I imagine this feeling is to be expected.

I loved how everything came together in the end with the classic Poirot reveal and I can totally see why this book had such a profound impact on the genre as a whole. It definitely stands the test of time in my eyes.

i wanted to like this more because it’s one of her most acclaimed novels but i didn’t find it nearly as engaging as her others like peril at end house and death on the nile!
