that was good. at first i suspected
flora and blunt, and then slightly before the end i suspected the actual murderer, shepherd. i realised it was wierd that the book was written in first person when none of christie’s other books are. also, somewhere around page 230, poirot said something about all the suspects and shepherd was not one of them. that was interesting because i thought he would be an obvious suspect. i read this book because my mother guessed the ending when she was a child. i was on the verge of guessing it but didn’t. i did suspect him for a hot minute. also, the fact that the dictaphone read out the dead man’s voice was quite creepy!
.
it’s not like her other murder books! wow

I loved the plot twist! The murderer being the narrator was a great twist, and made you question everything that had transpired.

Truly a masterpiece. One of the best Agatha Christie books I've ever read. Such mastery over words, keeps you wondering until the end. Must read.

Read the first few chapters in english, then switched to an audiobook in german. It is way easier to understand the story in the audiobook i heard.

This book was so much fun. Agatha Christie's books are always the ones that bring me joy after a heavy read. They are fast, easy and they also make you think since they are mysteries. I'm happy to say that I guessed correctly this time.
The first Agatha Christie that I read had the same twist, the unreliable narrator. It hit me super hard the first time, I still like it the second time but the other one was done a bit better so 4.The only thing that made me doubt sometimes was Poirot comparing him to Hastings. After helping him all this time and being the Hastings in this book, I was like she wouldn't do that right? And then she did.
Overall although some parts were slower than others I really liked it and I understand now why this is thought to be one of Agatha Christie's best works.

i didn't suspect the killer before it was revealed it was great

it woul  be a 5 star read but took half a star off because the essay in the front and back really wasn't necessary

it would have spoiled my enjoyment had i read the essay before reading the story
