That was creepy, because my mind kept running away with me. Just when you think you know what's going to happen.......WTF!??.
That ending.... that ending.

When I first started this I was really only planning on giving this two stars. I didn't like any of the characters, and didn't think this was creepy or scary. I was kind of hoping this would be more psychological, and would play to my own fears, allowing me to feel trapped and buried a live in the story.
The main character is a real piece of work and I couldn't connect with him or like him one bit, but then again, I am a happily married man and to do what he did to his wife is something I could never approve of. Even his wife as a character was not one I could side with either.they both had there issues, but I guess a little more back story might have made them more human to me. That of course is just my opinion.
Still, the more I thought about this story the more I wondered if this wasn't Mr. Light's intentions. Maybe he wanted me the reader to hate this guy so that this became less of a horror claustrophobic story and more of a, I hope you get what's coming to you type of story. I think for me that was the intention of the story. Mr. Light is usually very good with setting scenes and describing those elements of the setting so you can see very clearly what the charter is going for. He did do a great job with his descriptions, but all I could think of in the back of my mind was, "I hope you get it Tom". I think because of my dislike for the character I felt more like I was watching the scene unfold through a window, instead of with the character.
The ending was, for me, bitter sweet and massively disturbing. But not for the reasons you would think. There are some events that take place at the end that could make the faint of heart cringe away, but what got me is what Tom's wife did at the very end. Maybe it's just me but when you read the ending ask your self which you think is the most disturbing. I don't want to give to much away so if this review makes you curious, I would say give it a read. This is short enough to be read in less than an hour and it did hold my attention enough to keep me trucking along till the very end. This story also got me thinking, and I like that in a story. The more I thought about this after I finished it, the more I began to like it. That is the reason I gave this overall a solid three stars. It grew on me a little and maybe down the road a re-read will cause this to grow on me a little more. I will just have to wait and see when I get there.

Loved this short story (well, it wasn't really that short either, more than 50 pages...).
There are different feeling about the cheating husband and how he should have ended but I think he got a really nasty punishment.
His wife - a total crazy!
How will they live on from now, will he avenge his murdered love by murder or did she break him so much that he will do everything his wife says...would be interesting to find out :)

This is a classic tale of karmic retribution. And I love that the source is ambigous...at least for awhile. This was nice and creepy, and would be right at home in any anthology of the horrific and macabre. In fact, this wouldn't seem a bit out of place in the new collection of King stories. I highly recommend spending an hour with this one.
When Tom's wife leaves town, he's looking forward to a week of debauchery with his hot young girlfriend Miranda, but first, he must spread lime in the crawlspace. But what will he do when he's locked inside?
Crawlspace is a short story of claustrophobic terror. Imagine your spouse finding out you're cheating on him or her and locking you in the crawlspace? And that's not even the worst part...
Since this was a short story and I don't want to spoil too much, I'll keep this brief. Evans Light's writing did a good job conveying Tom's claustrophobic conditions and his increasing desperation, and also did a good job showing how he'd gotten to that point in his life. I felt sorry for the guy even though he'd brought the situation on himself.
Crawlspace was on the fast track to four territory until I got to the end. "Boo!" on the ending. "Boo!" I say. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

A short read that lasted about half an hour for me but was definitely worth the time involved. I kept wanting to hear what happened next and the author repeatedly supplied the exact twists and turns that my subconscious desired of the piece. The characterization is also pretty good for a short story and though not many are included in the story they are not 1-dimensional by any means. I do think that it could've benefited from being a little shorter, but as the author said they changed it to a longer story and it doesn't ruin it by any means. I would definitely be interested in reading another story by this author, especially in the realm of longer fiction.
I can't decide whether i wish this story were longer, or shorter. On one hand, I love the concept. On the other, I felt the foundation was a little lengthy, and the climax a bit too brief. Over all, I enjoyed the story.
I hate crawlspaces! What a stupid construction idea!
I'd like to say I really enjoyed reading this, but I was so uncomfortable during parts that it was hard to catch my breath! [a:Evans Light|5816392|Evans Light|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/authors/1368240698p2/5816392.jpg] had me in that crawlspace, too!
Cold, damp, tight... ::shivers::
The story... I loved.
I don't want to give anything away, I'll get my thoughts together & add a link when the blog post is up.
I listened to the audio version of this, too.
I liked the guy that did the narration :)
