3.5 stars…took a twist I wasn’t expecting right from the beginning.

Fun read, but at certain parts i wished i was the one that was dead so i would stop reading.

The murderer was the most obvious one. Like maybe you would doubt yourself at parts but subconsciously you are so sure it takes the mystery out of it.

And while I know the characters are supposed to be morally gray, they just fell very boring and bland.
And a girl just died, even if you’re trying to show how “oh cold rich people, oh college admissions are brutal” NO ONE cared?????

Lot's of fun with great pacing! I managed to figure out the twists before the main character, but there were enough red herrings and impactful scenes to keep me well entertained.

Definitely a tongue-in-cheek take on the topic and genre, (and the ending isn't exactly a "redemption" for the main character.... in fact, there are few people to "root for" at the end.) All in all though, I had fun and it was great to see Alexa Donne's creativity in action.

Let me get this right, he killed his girlfriend so he could write about it for the common app…

“But I know that if I went back, I would do it all over again.” I'm sorry WHAT?!?! The murder, the backstabbing, the manipulation. Like what?!

This book makes me so mad. Of course the murder was the boyfriend… Like she forgave Avery so quickly just because she is nice now she still was extremely vindictive and thought her stepbrother killed her friend and did nothing about it. Just because she isn't a murder doesn't mean she isn't a bad person. The absolute character shift of Ethan makes me so sad and annoyed. Like he was like a nice guy and in the end he turned into an insane self serving jerk! The fact that Olivia was the only one really punished does not sit right with me, the whole ending actually makes me what to scream. Worst book I have read this year 1.5/5

A good mystery surrounding the death of a private school student embroiled in college admission shenanigans. Hand to readers who like contemporary mysteries. Thanks NetGalley for an early looksee! I enjoyed it!

I finished this book yesterday and couldn’t put it down. I love the boarding school vibe and all the creepy secrets that were tangled into this book. Not a 5

A must read for any academic girly
