pretty in-depth read on how our inner child that is cultivated from the way we were raised comes out in adult relationships.
i surprisingly found this poignant and took my time to digest it considering that the spiritual perspective is not my thing and i was expecting it just give me a straight run down of how to act in a relationship as an adult.
i liked the side by side comparisons of the behaviors. it explained how certain behaviors and responses happen for a reason and how to be aware of those and challenge them.
it reminded me to be a loving person to my partner thru it all. learned more about the ego. extending love is never a bad thing to do, it benefits us too.
i now realize the title is on how to respond as an adult vs from your inner child in relationships! and not how to be “immature” , coming from how i expect most relationship self help books to be like

Boring. The advice wasn’t as expected. I found some nuggets useful but I don’t have it in me to push through all the rambling.

i resonated with the idea of “improving” at loving, as it is something i do work to be better at. the book provides a very clear framework for elements needed to love well (affection, allowing, attention, appreciation, acceptance). i read the main points of this book but skipped over many details specific to being in a partnership, as this is not yet relevant to me. will return to this later.

This book is very spiritual and deep. It gives a lot of exercise that you need to be able to give time to and have space for in your life. Unfortunately this just wasn't the right time for me to be reading it.
