The beginning was intriguing, and chapters flew by fast. However, I was hoping for more of a spooky, can't read this in the dark haunted house horror book and aside from a couple creepy scenes this was not it.
I started to lose interest about half way, until I didn't care and got lost. That being said I did finish it and had the feeling that it wasn't quite worth pushing through.

All I can say is "MEH" DNF this book skipped to the end. Even with the short chapters it felt painful and not scary to get through this. Though I will say that the beginning of this had promise which is why I'm giving it 2 stars.

I have mixed feelings about The Grip of It, but if you’re looking for a haunted house novel that drives you to the brink of a panic attack ... boy, do I have the book for you.

The whole book feels as a massive build-up to some revelation that will turn your understanding of what's happening around. Then something happens that does not feel profound and the story fizzles out.
