would be better if sebastian wasn’t an incest freak but i think he’s a good, complex villain regardless. magnus, again, is my favorite guy on the planet.

I wish I could give it 4.5 stars! This is a great series and this book was my favorite, so far!

Clary is ever true in her devotion and faith to Jace, and more than in any other book that shines through in this one.

This book was like the teacup ride at the fair, I couldn't tell which way I was facing most of the time but I think I had fun...

***SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT***

I still don't understand the love for Jace but hey! Clary is an angsty teen, so I guess it makes sense. I did really enjoy the plot of this book, but I do feel like we just added random things to help get them out of their sticky situations.

Honestly my biggest takeaway for this book was that Magnus deserves more than this world we've put him in. Why is he so used and abused??? He gives and gives and gives and then his BOYFRIEND is going to just take his immortality away from him without talking to him. That's ABSURD and makes me so angry.

There are so many aspects of this book that I just absolutely loved! Im not even sure where to begin.
First thing I love about this book is the change in Clary. To be clear I've never disliked Clary but she did frustrate me quite a bit in the previous books. But my God! I feel like she redeemed herself in this book.

"without thinking clear she grabbed his (Sebastian) shoulder and shoved him out of the way, hard. He staggered back as a demon struck and Clary rose to meet it with a dagger she had yanked from her belt... she drove the dagger home gutting the creature open… Jace was fending off two demons Clary swung her arm back and threw the dagger. It soared through the air and struck the creature… Jace whirled around and seeing her he winked"

I seriously had a fist pump reaction to this part. I won't lie I was getting real sick of Clary being completely useless and a damsel in distress every time they got into a battle situation. Especially when most of the time it was her recklessness that got them into trouble in the first place.
She kicked ass in this book...It was awesome.

Second aspect of this book that I love is the way Sebastian tugged at me. I really wanted to like this character. Even after everything he had done I was hoping he could be redeemed.
"you asked me who I belong to" said Sebastian.
Clary paused with her cup of chocolate halfway to her mouth. "I did?"
"Yeah" his eyes studied her face intently. "and I don't have an answer".
She set her cup down, feeling suddenly, intensely uncomfortable. "you don't have to belong to anyone," she said. It's just a figure of speech."
"Well, let me ask you something now," Sebastian said. "Do you think you can forgive me? I mean, do you think forgiveness is possible for someone like me?"
