I have several complaints with this book. The biggest being that pacing felt really off: the first half dragged, then about a quarter of it was great, and then the last quarter was SO rushed! I really enjoyed the journey through the isles; that was my favorite part, and the best paced. I was very confused by the ending at first, but after some research I think I better understand what the last sentence is implying. My other big complaint is that I didn't feel like the stakes
(and urgency of Xaden turning venin)
were high enough until the very end. Overall I did enjoy the story, but I'm glad it'll be a while before the next book is out.

I knew this book would make me cry, but I didn't know it would be because of
Quinn's
death. A side from that I loved this book. I loved watching Violet grow into her signet and her relationship with Xaden and her friends, but I can't believe the cliffhanger that we are left with. I don't know how I'm going to wait for the rest of the series.
Personal ranking so far:
1. Iron Flame
2. Onyx Storm
3. Fourth Wing

Ok the love story is still the blandest (and high-key toxic) part, but I don't hate the mysterious adventures elements. Good little Easter eggs along the way to keep readers feeling ahead of the curve, but definitely more than a few "what the fuck was that" plot holes.

This book SUCKED. It took forever for me to finish, and felt rushed and like it needed more editing. I only continued to read because I cared about the characters and story, and to be fair some interesting things happened but it just went over my head because of how dull the rest of it was. I didn’t enjoy reading this book and don’t care for finishing the series if they continue to be this bad.
The whole book was the female lead being burdened with fixing everyone else’s problems while the male lead moped about and acted like a child.
Definitely have to take a break from fantasy after this one.

LOVE THIS BOOK. if you’re thinking about reading this series, this is your sign to DO IT !!!!!! the book endings are such cliffhangers and will have you screaming into a pillow but because you love the book so much and physically cannot wait to start reading the next one. best series ever you absolutely MUST read this
