long but the ending was worth it

Okay, honestly… this had a very “wandering” energy about it. I felt like no one really knew exactly what was going on and by about 44% I was asking myself if it was entirely necessary for me to literally finish this absolute monstrosity of a book…
So here are my takeaways:
* The first 3/4 of this book are nonsense and probably a waste of time.
* The spice felt super awkward and out of place. It was literally stressful because of circumstances in the book that I don’t want to completely spoil for others…
* I didn’t find myself making my “hhmmm interesting” face until literally 85% through the book
Also, side note, but if Rebecca Yarros introduces multiple character narratives at 90% one more time, I may get my own dragon and start the book on fire… for real, it’s jarring and pointless and REALLY took me out of the little excitement I found in this book. Like I said though, there were some really great little morsels that Rebecca Yarros dropped but it felt like everything I wanted to know was left hanging and completely unanswered… there were so many loose ends in this book, I fear it may completely unravel before she gets time to write a 4th installment.
All in all, I’m not giving up on the series but I need some time to mourn the TWENTY FOUR hours I lost reading this book when I could have just skipped to the last 150 pages and probably have been just as wandering around in the dark and still have gotten all the big bits.
Yeah..sorry not sorry. This was a 3/5 for me.
