I really liked fourth wing and have been disappointed in each subsequent book. The book drags in the middle and the characters gallivanting through the islands seemed like a way to pass the time in the book rather than integral to the plot. Violet started off as such a strong character but keeps picking up frustrating characteristics that make it hard to view her as likeable. Her absolute refusal to accept the reality of the situation they faced with Xaden was frustrating on its own but to be hit with that page after page really took me away from the story. Where this author always gets me is she finally progressing the plot in an interesting way at the very end of the book which hooks me enough to give the next one a read

My only complaint with this series is that I started reading it before it was complete. The cliff hangers in each of these books are crazy stressful, and I am emotionally unwell!
Onyx Storm is a fast-paced read filled with magic, betrayals, and dark secrets. The world building is rich without being overwhelming, and the tension never lets up. I love getting to know all the characters more in-depth as the series progresses. I laughed, I screamed, I shed a tear - all signs of a great read!

It was definitely better than Iron Flame I just think she needs to really smooth out her battle scenes they get too confusing and I don’t know what is with the super cryptic ending yet again
