This book could’ve gone on for thousands of pages and I would’ve been happy. Such an introspective and unique way of looking at a rising pop stars life in the early 2000s. I felt so drawn to Amber as a character and found the narrative so captivating.

Thank you Netgalley and Celadon Books for the advanced readers copy.

got 100 pages in and just didn't care ab the story

it would have been 2 stars if at the end she would have chosen someone else over axel

I was super into this. It was so cute. Such sweet friendships and coming of age experiences. I feel like there could have been deeper thought into the experiences of the main characters, but overall a fun read

Recommend.

Ohhh my gosh. I don’t know if fictional music stories are for me! Non-/fiction about musicians make me feel so sad. All the  pushing for more and the invasion of privacy and the drugs and the expectations and the heartbreak. I was constantly reading Amber Young and thinking Britney Spears. I enjoyed Amber’s story end much more though. And I loved Gwen & Amber’s story of friendship. It was also interesting for me to realize how duped I was as a younger fan.
How many relationships were made up like Gwen & Wes?
And there were a lot of great remarks about how women are blamed and pitted against each other, but somehow guys never get the same sort of heat.

Solid 3 stars, a great fun, fast read. Perfect palette cleaner

Honey is for those who love Pop Icons, and/or are fascinated with the music industry's relationship with young women.

Banta focuses in on the late 90s - early 2000s pop world, and follows the journeys of Amber and Gwen (Britney & Christina vibes). We see them face pressures from the media, fandom, society, family, etc.

Banta humanizes the Pop Stars and challenges the way we relate to them.
