Ich liebe es. Ein blutiger Peter Pan Roman, wo Peter einfach nur beschissen ist? I LOVE IT.

I was told this book was brutal, I don't think I took that seriously enough. It reminded me of the Lord of the Flies. It wasnt just because it was bloody, but the "play" was not play. There was blood, and death, and murder and manipulation. Though the story was one I knew, it was not exactly how I pictured it going. The story itself was ok. It was an easy read, though I personally didn't like the story itself. I don't think I'll ever read it again.

I don’t even know where to start.
Reading this book was a rollercoaster. I went into this reading experience with high expectations because I’ve already read Alice, Red Queen and Looking Glass and these books had blown my mind. Christina Henry is one of my favourite authors, and I adore her writing style and world-building “technique”. On top of that, the last Peter Pan retelling that I read was, to tell the truth, disappointing.
Mostly because the author had set up a very weird and strange relationship between Hook and Tiger Lily. This, honestly, ruined the whole book for me.

This is why I was let down by "Lost Boys" when Sal turned out to be a girl.
I went into this book thinking it would not include any romantic relationships but turned out I was wrong. I was just so excited to read a retelling that would focus on Peters and Jamie's “relationship” and doesn’t make the girl he loves one of the reasons why he turned out evil, because even before Sally, Jamie had enough reasons to absolutely despise Peter.

As I already said at this point of the book I was playing with the thought of not finishing it, but because Christina Henry’s Books have never really disappointed me before, I knew I had to give it another chance.
And I’m so glad I did.

Chapter 15 completely broke my heart, and I did not see that Plot-twist coming, even though I usually do. Peter destroying the entrance to the other world and now keeping them as prisoners was brilliant. And for some reason I completely forgot about Tink which made the reveal even more exciting.
On top of that finding out what happened to Jamie before he met Peter was so sad.

Chapter 18 was so creative as well, which made the ending extra heartbreaking. It will definitely leave your heart aching because you know that Jamie will never get the happy ending or closer that he needs.

All in all this book is so good and even if the first few chapters probably won't enchant you as much as the Alice Chronicles do, to keep reading is definitely worth it and it will pay off.
