I initially started reading this book then set it aside. A few months later I picked it up again and devoured it. I am still thinking about this story.

I thought this was a great concept, and the gradual slip into an understated, remote collapse of civilisation was brilliantly described and all too believable. As the story went on, though, it started to lose credibility for me. The characters' transformations seemed contrived and I wasn't quite able to suspend my disbelief all the way through, which was a shame.
