Definitely one of the better dystopian fictions I've read over the years. The writing is beautiful and the main characters are a set of sisters you really want to root for. It's very interesting that as a reader we don't really ever discover what precisely has happened in the world to cause the current conditions but you certainly grasp the effects. There are definitely tense moments throughout the novel and it touches on some very deep subjects but nothing ever felt gratuitous. Despite the negative circumstances this book certainly transported me back to childhood when I wanted to be a wild thing out in the woods and made me ache for a simpler way of life.
