I know this is an older one of his, but it was new to me. I’ll never get over how well Stephen King is able to sift through all the worst parts of humanity and turn them into great horror stories. He melds the supernatural and the real together so well it’s crazy. This one is no exception.

Adequately brilliant, like all the Stephen King books I have read so far. The characters were unapologetically flawed , which made the novel a gripping, realistic read. It had me on the edge of my seat, aghast at the paths it tramped down, marvelling at its violent reactions and resolutions. One thing that King does fantastically and without fail is subtlety. He does not beat you over the head with horror - he opens your door in the middle of the night, rustles the curtains, scratches his nails on the bed posts, and awaits under the bed, one hand ready to grab an ankle when you slide out for the bathroom. His style of writing is patient, detailed and enlightening, which makes any work of his a privilege to read, no matter its length.
