As expected, nearly cried over approximately every story.
I had heard a lot of the stories on NPR, but they were all still good and heartwarming to hear again.
This is really an enjoyable read. Each story captures the essence of the StoryCorps project - allowing others to tell their stories while reminding the reader that there are some feelings and experiences that we all share. This book is definitely worth reading!
As with Listening Is an Act of Love, the previous StoryCorps book on my "read" list, this is an audio version of a longer book which I intend, someday, to read in full. These stories were meant to be listened to though, and they are fantastic, as is the commentary between Scott Simon and Dave Isay that runs between them. I came home from work bawling my eyes out after finishing listening to this in the car, but they were the best possible kind of tears. I'd like to give this CD to every person I know, but sadly, cannot, so if you can find it at your library or have 10 bucks to spend, get it!
3.5 probably. short read with important moments captured between pairs of people - best friends, spouses, grandparents, parents - all around the theme of gratitude. I'm glad I picked this up around the holiday season. I wish it was organized by types of relationships, just so I could keep it straight. I'm glad for the pictures of people at the end of each story.
